Q: So, how do you plan on animating this film exactly?
A: Through a combination of methods, partly programming in what happens, some things shot from the first person perspective of the game, and some set pieces where I set everything up and just let the game's AI play it out. Its a mix of pre-planned and randomised stuff that beckons success or dismal failure!
Q: When did you get to be so cool, anyway?
A: I should probably make it less obvious that I'm writing all these questions right now.
Q: Good plan. OK, how long do you expect the film to be?
A: I'm guessing roughly half an hour, if it all gets finished. If I have to cut some sections out either because I don't have time to do them, or they are technically too difficult, then it could come in quite a bit less.
Q: Will the film have any relation to the story and universe of the Half life series itself?
A: Not really no. Although it features some carry-overs from the game, this film isn't any kind of prequel/sequel or accompanyment to the Half Life series. There are a few references to the game itself, but it should be fairly subtle.
Q: So what is the world of 2017 like in this film? Extremely shiny or grimy and Mad Max esque?
A: The only Mad Max connection this film has is a crazed Australian guy in a leading role. The near future setting just gives me a little more leeway with things I include, its not a massively different world to the one we know now. There are a few mentions of technology getting out of hand though...
Q: Its a comedy... right?
A: I hope it gets laughs in the right places this time around.
